In 2025, the shareholders of Forest Landscapes (FL) will celebrate 30 years of agricultural, as well as afforestation, reforestation and revegetation (ARR), activities in Eastern Africa. At COP6 in 2000 (The Hague), Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) certified our initial Tanzanian project as the world’s first voluntary forest carbon project. A few years later, we validated and subsequently verified carbon credits from the world’s first Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) ARR project. We have been responsible for the largest non-NGO reforestation activities in Africa during the last 30 years, primarily funded by private venture and institutional capital.
We have been responsible for removing about 5 million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere through ARR projects in Africa and are looking forward to remove millions more.
